Being an Acronis user for many, many years, going through the Version ’X’ not being compatible with each new or previous version, not being able to read backups even though they were verified, and all the nightmare stories that can be read here and there if you dig deep, has all of this ’end user beta testing’, get the product out to generate revenue so we can hire more developers to fix the bugs attitude been resolved?
Acronis Backup 12.5 edition delivers a feature-rich solution that addresses our data backup needs, and gives us a path for our strategic vision, all at an affordable price. Joel Stuart, Network Administrator, Johnson Electric; It looks like Acronis is transforming rapidly and bringing amazing capabilities to the data protection market. Acronis Disk Director 12.5; Acronis Revive 2019; Acronis VSS Doctor Free; Business. New Acronis Cyber Protect Try AI-Powered Integration of Data Protection and Cybersecurity for Businesses. Acronis True Image 2018 for Mac Acronis True Image 2021 for PC. Acronis True Image 2021 for Mac. Acronis True Image 2020 for PC. Acronis Backup 12.5 is simple, reliable and accessible from anywhere with a simple website address that will lead to the administration console. Backups are fast, reliable and reports are useful (now, this is a progress) so you can be warned in advance of any problem that may have kept your scheduled backups from successful completion.
Many questions, mostly, if I purchase, install and use Acronis for the Mac, will it read the Acronis backup image file created on PC’s? Is Acronis for the Mac as robust, feature rich as SuperDuper!, Carbon Copy Cloner? Is it a mature product that can work as flawlessly as the competitors?
Many years ago, I jumped ship and went with Macrium Reflect after the advice from a high level Dell support tech, and I’ve never, ever, ever had to look back, my backups are rock solid, out of sight out of mind.
I’m looking for the EXACT same level of confidence to even begin to give consideration to Acronis, so does it exist, or are we still your beta testers?
Quite frankly, it seems that once Acronis grew, they got like the ’big boys’ and lots of things changed, and an overly complicated, deeply complex, way too many variables interface, choices, menus, turned off most, if not all of my clients, as well as me.
So, has Acronis got better, or just more icing on the cake for funding the next round of programmers?
Finally, this forum is PAINFULLY slow, slow, slow, web developers, hosting, issues? Big boys are supposed to have the vehicle in shape to deliver the goods, and the sluggishness of this site is indicative of the type of experiences I had over the years. I’d love to be more positive, but this is truly important for ANYONE who is to consider using Acronis products. Beginner Comments: 5
Additionally, downloaded, installed, did 1st full backup, have not tested compatibility with previous .tib images as of yet, however, updated to new revision this morning, attempted to do an ’incremental’, non-existent in any menu, went to gym, cam back 1-1/2 hours later, only 22% done (160Gb backup), not getting a warm fuzzy feeling about this program..but as a consultant, I will be asked for my opinions and evaluation results, which are occurring as type this, and it’s not looking too good. Is this an actual Acronis moderated forum, or just an attempt? I see answers as well as my questions, are blown off, not answered, ignored. How does one evaluate a trial and ask questions, WITHIN AN ACCEPTABLE PERIOD OF TIME (hours), not days, weeks, or never? Beginner Comments: 10
Yes it seems Acronis is in retrograde. Check out the posts in the ATI 2015 forum and all the complaints therein.
Flip for mac uninstall. I have used ATI in various iterations since 2004? Never had a problem. I recently decided to trial a rMBP (mid 2014). It’s running OS X 10.10, Parallels Desktop 10 and Windows 8.1. I was encouraged to learn there was an ATI version for Mac so I installed it. What an unpleasant surprise! Sleek GUI but functionality stripped down to the bone. The Mac version is completely different from the previous PC version(2014), like ’Chalk and cheese’. Over the first few days I tested a couple of bare metal restores however after restoring, the PD10 drivers would not load. So, after each failure I re-installed PD10 and then everything worked again. After several more days an updated version of ATI for Mac was made available which I installed and now the PD10 drivers load properly after a bare metal restore. So the application now appears to work as far as basic functionality is concerned but it does little more than Apple’s ’Time Machine’. Maybe the early implementers of ATI for Mac are being used as beta testers.
Regarding recovery of PC files to Mac. My version of ATI is for Mac. It will not recover simple files (.pdf .docx) backed up by PC and pops the message: ’Failed to perform the operation because the backup settings are inconsistent’. The current ATI 2015 version claims it will work with PC and Mac however if one reads further, the backup and recovery processes describe PC operations not PC and Mac operations. So it all seems a little confused.
My view is that technically, this application is not yet ready for ’Prime Time’. Its functionality is quite lacking, it’s very slow to backup and/or restore, compared to ’Time Machine’ and probably not worth the money or effort to install and learn. Beginner Comments: 5
Thanks for your brutally honest report, I truly appreciate the results you have confirmed. I could post about all of the negative aspects of quasi ’beta testing’ for software companies as well as 1st hand experience from behind the front lines, but it makes no sense, only irritates me. Thanks. Beginner Acronis 12 For Mac Catalina Comments: 10
You are welcome. Other than the obvious, there’s another stumbling block. Most folks will have years of archived backups accessible only by ATI. (The previous ATI PC version had a routine to convert ATI backups to Windows backups and vice-versa but it appears this has been dropped) That’s a huge discouragement to switch applications. Acronis knows this and proceeds regardless. Arrogance, hubris are appropriate descriptors. That’s what irritates me.
So we are now ’Encouraged’ to buy a ’Revolutionary’ new, bare-bones application with most of the functionality stripped out for the initial release. Over the next three or four years, the stripped-out functionality will be re-introduced in the form of valuable, progressive upgrades, for a fee. I believe it’s called ’Stealth Marketing’. That’s what irritates me.
Fortunately, I’m just starting with my MBP so I have no archive to consider and lots of backup options to explore. Beginner Comments: 5
Exactly.
I’ve spent the last 6+ years cutting my teeth backing up clients + my own stuff with Acronis from the starting line. I went through many painful periods of compatibility issues, etc., and tried a slew of other companies for what Acronis was promising. I too felt abandoned, and chose Macrium Reflect, and never, ever looked back. Works well, and you can convert to VM’s with their tools, etc.Acronis 12 Download
Re: Mac side, since 2007 I went to ’the other side’ and gave up owning Windows (for all the reasons we know) and never looked back. Mac has proven to be the OS of choice, and being the largest valued company in the world is not just for the bling, but for the rock solid OS. Again, SuperDuper! and CarbonCopy Cloner work well, and also, if desired, ChronoSync can be used to sync backups.
Sorry Acronis, as the pendulum swings, your opportunity has passed, just like all other software that was at one time on top, nothing lasts forever. My own slanted opinion and 2 cents is after getting to the top, the profits are sucked out, and the shriveled up remains do not survive or validate consideration.
On a different note (that may or may not be associated with this blurb), there was an interesting article in the NY TImes a week or 2 ago ( http://www.nytimes.com/2014/10/23/upshot/one-third-of-top-websites-rest… ) talking about how users legal recourse. You might want to read, and think about considering getting into a business where you can profit while the loophole exists. I’m thinking about it, every business seems to taking advantage of it, what the heck, they way it is!! Beginner Comments: 1
I’ve been using Acronis True Image for years to backup a number of Windows PCs. It’s ’saved my bacon’ on several occasions.
I recently upgraded to Acronis 2015 and have had a bit of a learning curve adjusting to the new GUI. But after using it for about a week, I think it’s actually an improvement and would certainly be easier for a novice to learn.Acronis 12 For Mac Osx
I also own 2 Mac Minis. I never have understood or liked Time Machine so I decided to try the new ATI for MAC. I’m not quite sure what Acronis is attempting to do with this product. The architecture is very different, and I don’t think the Unix like MAC OS is really the reason. Compared to the PC product, it’s glacially slow. There also does not appear to be nearly as much capability to control the backup process. This looks like beta software that needs improving in terms of both performance and configuration.
As I write this, I’m backing up one of my MACs using a trial version of Carbon Copy Clone. I already like it better. Time to move some some software to the Trash bin. Acronis 12 For Mac Os Beginner Acronis 12 Comments: 1
Have iMac with OSX 10 Yosemite and Parallels 10. Moved Windows 8.1 with all programs and data files and everything works. Am confused by which new 2015 True Image version will provide a full image backup of the Apple and the VM. Do I just need ATI for Mac or one for Mac and another PC version for the VM ? I intend to backup to a local HDD - presume I use a mac disk format.
